About Me
The person behind the reviews
Why I Review Chargers
I'm Marcus, a software developer based in Seattle. I'm not a tech reviewer by profession, and this isn't my day job. ChargeWise started because I got frustrated with charger shopping.
In 2022, I bought a charger from Amazon that looked fine but fried my phone battery within three months. The replacement cost me $200. That experience sent me down a rabbit hole of learning about charging technology, safety certifications, and what actually matters in a charger.
Most charger reviews online are written by people who tested the product for a week and moved on. I wanted something different - reviews based on months of actual use, written by someone who depends on these devices daily.
My Testing Philosophy
Every charger reviewed here has been used for at least 3 months in my real life. I track:
- Actual charging speeds vs. advertised claims
- Heat output during charging
- Long-term reliability and build quality
- Real-world convenience factors
I buy all the products I review with my own money. No free samples, no sponsored content, no affiliate pressure to give positive reviews. If something is bad, I'll say so.
My Setup
For context on what I'm charging daily:
- Samsung Galaxy S23 (personal phone)
- iPhone 14 Pro (work phone)
- Dell XPS 15 (work laptop)
- MacBook Pro 14" (personal laptop)
- ThinkPad T480 (testing machine)
- iPad Pro 12.9"
- Various wireless earbuds and accessories
Having this variety of devices means I can test charger compatibility across different ecosystems and power requirements.
